Back to Actions Convoy Spotting, Gloop & Blocades

In the pictures you can see the tree Greenham wimmin used to spot movements in the base indicating the military was preparing a convoy to transport cruise missiles in a low-visibility mode which endangered people using the roads.

Big boys use words, not weapons!

convoy spottingMaking Gloop

Flour (or anything mass-like) and water plus food coloring. Gloop was how we called some stuff we cooked to put in little plastic bags and throw (safely) at the convoy as it passed by. This made the convoy visible, thus informing people that those vehicles were carrying deadly weapons with no special security measures taken!

Greenham wimmin collaborated with Cruise Watch, exchanging information about the convoy and taking NVDA.

Blocking the roads

Apart from the gloopy visual warnings, wimmin would block the road, and sometimes even crawl onto the vehicles.
