Dear Mrs. Robinson,

I am writing to ask for information about your salsa classes. I am specially interested in an intensive course of two weeks.
I am 26 and I work as telecommunication enginner at Iberia.I am sat all the time so I'd like to move the body. I don't know anything about dance.

I have looked at your website, but there is no information about intensive classes next summer.Could you send me information about dates and prices?
I would also like some information about accomodation because I'm going to visit the Caribe Islands.I would like to go with my girlfriend Lara. She's also interested in salsa, but she is a bit shy. I'm sure that I'll convince her to go.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully

Juanda.;)

Wow! Excellent!

Comments on mistakes:

The Driver: I am sat all the time so I'd like to move the body.
Your Teacher: I am sitting all the time so I'd like to do some (kind of) exercise.

Comment: "move my body" sounds a bit too physical!, hahahah...

The Driver: I don't know anything about dance.
Your Teacher: I don't know anything about dancing.

Comment: Remember we always use "-ing" in verbs following a preposition.

Other Stuff: the Caribbean /kari'biien/

A Question: what's the connection with the Caribbean? Is the salsa course there? Are you writing there?

Tell me so I can finish with the comments, OK?

See you!

Yes! the fantastic - also crazy - idea:eureka: is go on holidays to the Caribbean Islands , and get salsa classes there becacuse, probably is the best place to learn. Mrs. Robinson is the beautiful dance teacher that only exists in my mind, and she teaches the salsa course there.:boing:

Profe de inglés - 29-3-2006 at 22:49

Hahahah, OK then, look:

You: because I'm going to visit the Caribe Islands.I would like to go with my girlfriend Lara
Your Teacher: because I'm going to visit the Caribbean with my girlfriend Lara.

Then...

"I'll convince her" is common. "I'll convince her to go" is possible, yes. There's also this very common expression: "I'll talk her into going".

Excellent work, Driver! ^_^

Oops! I forgot to ask you something...

I suppose you used "Yours faithfully" because it's the first time you addressed Mrs whatever, didn't you?

Yes I did!

I'll write:

Dear Sir/Madam ---> If I've never written to them.
And I'll close with ---> Yours faithfully

Dear Mr./Mrs ---> If it's the second time we write.
And I'll close with ---> Best wishes

It's correct.Isn't it?

Profe de inglés - 1-4-2006 at 21:36

Hiya!

For the second case, it'd be "Yours sincerely" better.

"Best regards", "Best wishes" is for any time any place! For everything (I think so!)

See you
